My Journey to Peru

3 min read·Illaripa Lupa Hake

The first journey deep into the Andes changed my life. I did not come as a tourist. I came as someone who had learned much about this tradition — and was still not prepared for what the mountains do. As a keeper of Andean energy medicine, I want to tell you about this journey, because it shows what Peru truly is.

A Journey Between Worlds The journey began in Cusco. Peruvian cuisine, served with decorative flowers. Already there something was different — the beauty of the smallest things became a form of prayer. From Cusco the group continued on to the Moon Altar, a sacred healing site for feminine energy.

The mountains of Peru are not silent backdrops. They are Apus — spiritual guardians that watch over the land and its people. With every step in this sacred landscape I felt their presence. Their strength.

Their love. The Mountains as Teachers The Apus gave me clear signs of healing. Dreams, encounters, physical sensations that did not seem random. Whoever walks through this landscape with open attention is taught — even without words.

This is not romanticization. It is an experience that many travelers before me have had, and many after me will have. Healing of the Feminine Energy At the Moon Altar we worked with the spiritual wounds of the womb. It is important to understand: men carry this wound too, because all human beings come from a womb.

The womb is regarded in this tradition as an altar that represents the origin of energy. Women and men both need the healing of this point of origin. Women who walk this path become priestesses who carry this sacred altar within them. The healing happened through surrender.

Through fully feeling the love and the medicine of these places. Rituals with flowers that symbolized cosmic love, harmony, and beauty. Personal Healing at the End of the Path At the end of the journey each person experienced something of their own. For me it was the healing of the relationship with my mother.

A healing I had long sought and never truly reached — until this place made it possible. I feel boundless gratitude. Toward Pachamama. Toward the spiritual teachers.

Toward the people who traveled with me. An Invitation If Peru calls to you, it is rarely by chance. The journeys I accompany are not a tourist program. They are an invitation to encounter yourself anew — and the lineage from which you come.

In the training in Andean energy medicine we prepare the inner ground needed for such a journey to truly carry. And if you want to walk the path, one day you will arrive there yourself.
